Finally, Feel Like Yourself

While countless women love their large breasts, for others, it can be a major life hindrance. Disproportionally large breasts often lead to discomfort, pain, embarrassment, and prevention from an active lifestyle. A breast reduction decreases the size of the breasts, allowing patients to finally feel like themselves.

How a Breast Reduction Works

Dr. G can achieve smaller breasts for patients by removing skin, fat, and glandular tissue. During the procedure, he will also re-shape the breasts to improve their appearance and/or re-position the nipples and areolas to get the most natural appearance possible. Most patients go down 1-2 sizes with a breast reduction, but it may be possible to go down even more. This can be determined during your consultation with Dr. G.

Breast Reduction Surgery Details

  • Arrange for a ride to and from your surgery
  • Arrange for assistance after surgery for at least 24 hours
  • Do not wear jewelry, makeup, nail polish, or false nails to the surgery

Dr. G typically performs a breast reduction with the patient under general anesthesia. Before the procedure, your skin will be cleansed and marked to help guide Dr. G. He will carefully and precisely create an incision that goes all the way around the areola and continues underneath the breast. Using this incision, he will take excess skin from each side of the breasts. The tissue that is not removed will be lifted and contoured to achieve a firmer, smaller appearance for the breasts. Dr. G may also re-position the nipple and areola (this will be discussed during your consultation). Once the procedure is complete, the incisions will be closed.

Best Breast Reduction Recovery Tips

It’s important that your home is ready for you when you return from surgery. This means having everything prepared that you will need. We will provide you not only with a list of items you’ll need for recovery, but also with a vetted Amazon store where you can access them.

We recommend having plenty of loose, comfy, button-up blouses to wear during recovery. It will be very difficult to lift up your arms for a few days after surgery, so you will need a helper during that time.

After your procedure, you’ll be fitted with a surgical bra for healing and support. You’ll need to wear this for about one week, and then you can begin wearing a soft bra without an underwire. Do not wear any kind of a wire bra until Dr. G advises you that it’s okay to.

Recovery

  • Most patients resume sedentary type work approximately one week after surgery
  • Expect bruising, tightness, and stiffness
  • You will need to keep drains dry if they are placed
  • Avoid lifting anything over 1-2 pounds for two weeks
  • Avoid exercise until Dr. G advises you to continue
  • Avoid putting any kind of pressure on your incisions
  • Expect to sleep upright for 1-2 weeks
