Restoring Your Health

Some of the more common medical issues that can arise from breast implants and lead women to seek revision surgery are capsule contracture, symptoms attributed to “breast implant illness” (BII), and breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). Dr. G is very knowledgeable in all of these conditions and can guide you to the best treatment options for you. He performs surgery to help address all of these conditions.

BIA-ALCL is a cancer of the immune blood cells that lives around a breast implant, and is associated with breast implants that are textured. In the majority of cases, surgery will completely cure this disease. In a BIA-ALCL surgical procedure, the breast implants will be removed along with the scar tissue that surrounds them.

Breast Implant Illness

Breast implant illness (BII) is a poorly characterized condition that has affected hundreds of women. It is reported to affect patients in many different ways that can be life-impairing, including fatigue and brain fog; aches and pains; fever; migraines; rashes; stomach problems; breathing issues; hair loss; depression, and much more.

While the exact nature of BII isn’t completely clear, and there really is no defined disease process recognized as BII, many believe that it is a condition related to the presence of breast implants. For many patients, the most successful cure for BII seems to be removal of the breast implants which are believed to be creating the problem. While there is no guarantee of feeling better, this surgery has worked for many of those patients.

Capsule Contracture

Capsule contracture is a condition in which the capsule (the scar tissue envelope that forms around breast implants) becomes firm or tight and distorts the breast. This is not a dangerous condition, but it can affect the shape or position of the breast, and in some instances it can be uncomfortable or cause pain. While the condition might be improved with oral medications in some instances, most of the time surgery to remove the capsule and replace the breast implant is necessary. Fortunately, this is usually successful, and the condition doesn’t recur.

Real Patient Testimonial

“I feel more than fortunate to have found Dr. G. I was humiliated, embarrassed, and ashamed of my body. Dr. G, Eva, and his staff made me feel very comfortable. He has a way with compassion because it is just there naturally. He is a kind, empathetic, and a brilliant surgeon. He went into this profession to help people and his precise customized work speaks for itself. Dr. G. spent months and countless hours of his time meeting with me, answering questions, and devising a plan. Not once was I pressured to sign or put down a deposit and become a patient. He researched my specific concerns at length, and presented me with the option that he thought was best. I have never felt more cared for or valued by a doctor. In the end, I could not be happier with my results. I no longer feel ashamed of the disfigurement that was once the result of a doctor that operated on me many times. Dr. G. is in a different league. He will go above and beyond. He prides himself in his work, precision and thoughtful approach to each individual. He genuinely cares about his patients, and the end result will show just that. Thank you Dr. G, Eva, and to your entire office for helping me to feel so comfortable throughout this process. This profession needs more doctors like you.”
