Unsatisfactory results from fillers—or even filler that looks fine but the patient regrets getting it—are very common. We see many patients in this situation, and Dr. G is the ideal choice for your cosmetic injection correction at our Virginia Beach practice.
How Cosmetic Injection Correction is Done
There is no standard answer or technique for cosmetic injection correction. As mentioned above, Dr. G takes a highly personalized approach to each unique patient and their situation.
Sometimes cosmetic injection revision can be accomplished by simple dermal filler dissolver. There is an enzyme called hyaluronidase that is a reversal agent for hyaluronic acid-based fillers, and this works to break them down quickly and effectively.
Then there are situations in which a “permanent” filler can be dissolved, but there’s a catch. For example, sometimes Kenalog (a steroid) is used to dissolve filler, but it creates tissue or skin atrophy which can only be corrected with constant fillers and/or fat transfer to fill the gap.
However, sometimes filler cannot be reversed with any type of dissolvent, and more aggressive measures must be taken—such as excision with a scalpel. This is the case with many patients.
